SB 332 -- CRIME VICTIM'S COMPENSATION FUND

SPONSOR:  Stouffer (Bruns)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Crime Prevention and Public Safety by a vote of 7 to 0.

This bill transfers the administration of the Crime Victim's
Compensation Fund from the Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations to the Department of Public Safety and allows any
person seeking compensation who is aggrieved by a decision to
appeal it to the Administrative Hearing Commission.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the Department of Public Safety
is the more appropriate department to oversee the fund.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Stouffer.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
